Safeguarding Level 3 Children and Adults at Risk of Harm Half Day

Three Hour Course which is  designated for staff working across the Rail Network and is a must for anyone who may come into contact with Adults at Risk from Harm, and Children. The course is based around the “THINK FAMILY” and “Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility” approach. The focus is on the situations and types of abuse that may present across the rail and other transport networks.

To have an understanding of the Safeguarding officer role and how this works in practice

To have knowledge of the organisations safeguarding Guidance

Learning Outcomes for Adults: -

  • Draws on professional knowledge of what constitutes adult abuse, harm or neglect to support others in fulfilling their adult  safeguarding duties.
  • Discusses the situation with the person, documents & reports concerns, recording the wishes & views of the adult at risk.
  • Understands purpose & process of case reviews & lessons learnt.
  • Attends relevant multidisciplinary meetings to present supporting evidence within relevant information sharing protocols.
  • Works with other professionals & agencies, with adults & their families where there are safeguarding concerns in risk  management & protection.

Learning Outcomes for Children: -

  • To know how to undertake, where appropriate, a risk & harm assessment.
  • To know how to communicate effectively with children, & to know how to ensure  that they have the opportunity to participate in decisions affecting them as  appropriate to their age & ability.
  • To know how to contribute to/formulate & communicate effective management  plans for children who have been maltreated within a multidisciplinary approach,  (as related to role).
  • To know how to ensure the processes & legal requirements for looked after children, inc. after-care, are appropriately undertaken, where relevant to role.
