Oxygen Administration

This Oxygen Administration training course is an introduction to oxygen therapy and give awareness of the risks involved using oxygen therapy.

This training enables users to administer oxygen safely and effectively, for service users, including children, with breathing difficulties. Delegates will learn how and when to administer oxygen to a service user and the safety concerns with carrying, storing and administering it.

Course Objectives

On completion of this Oxygen Therapy training course, the learner will understand: -

  • What oxygen therapy is and its use
  • The contraindications prohibiting use of oxygen.
  • Who would prescribe oxygen therapy,
  • The equipment used during oxygen therapy,
  • How to administer oxygen therapy, using the required flow rate for the following oxygen delivery devices: (Non re-breather mask and Bag, valve, mask)
  • Administer oxygen to a patient in line with agreed ways of working
  • The risks of oxygen therapy
  • Outline health and safety rules for the: Use, Storage and Handling of oxygen

The course is made up of practical and theoretical sessions and learners are continuously assessed throughout the course.
