Historically management skills were learnt on the job once a colleague was in post, with varying levels of success. This programme gives those managers already in post or colleagues aspiring to management the opportunity to focus and develop their management skills.
•Every programme participant will be assigned a mentor to offer support and guidance throughout the programme. It is important that the mentor is dedicated to the programme to ensure the colleague receives the support they need to successfully complete the programme. Programme participants will be required to attend regular progress managers with their line manager to plan the completion of the work-based aspects of the programme. The progress of each participant will be monitored and reported to the Managing Director on a quarterly basis.
•This programme has been designed to cover all aspects of management within a healthcare setting. At the start of the programme participants will sit down with their line manager and agree the order and necessity of the programme modules. Completion of some modules may not be applicable at entry stage.
•After completing a module and attending the relevant workshops there is a need to put the learning into practice. This will be evidence based and will require participants to produce written evidence gained in the various sections of the learning log.
